जब ९ नवंबर २००० को ११ हिमालयी जिलों को अलग कर इसको देश का २७ वां एवं हिमालयी राज्यों का ११ वां राज्य बनाया गया तो इसके कुछ प्रतीक चिन्ह बनाये गए| जो यहाँ की विशेषता को दर्शाते हैं| आओ इन प्रतीक चिन्हों के बारे में संक्षिप्त रूप से जानते हैं|

उत्तराखंड राज्य चिन्ह
उत्तराखंड के प्रशासकीय कार्यों के लिए स्वीकृत इस राज्य चिन्ह में यहाँ भौगोलिक स्थितियाँ दर्शायी गयी हैं, यह चिन्ह इस प्रकार से है की एक गोलाकार आकृति के बीच में तीन ऊँची पर्वत चोटी बनी हुई है| जिसमे सबसे बड़ी चोटी बीच वाली है| इन चोटियों के नीचे चार बड़ी लहरें दर्शायी गयी हैं जो गंगा नदी की बताई गयी हैं| इसी के साथ सबसे बड़ी वाली चोटी के बीच में अशोक का लाट दर्शाया गया है एवं’ इसके नीचे सत्यमेव जयते लिखा गया है, जिसे मुण्डकोपनिषद से लिया गया है|
उत्तराखंड राज्य पक्षी
राज्य पक्षी के रूप में हिमालयन मोनाल घोषित किया गया है| यह पक्षी हिमालयन क्षेत्र के २२०० से ५००० मीटर की ऊँचाई तक मिलता है| इसमें मोनाल मादा पक्षी तथा डफिया नर पक्षी है| हालाँकि दोनों पक्षी एक ही प्रजाति से संबंधदित हैं| इनका रंग हरे ,नीले एवं काले का मिश्रण होता है तथा पूँछ हरी और नारंगी होती है| आलू इस पक्षी का प्रिय भोजन है| इसका वैज्ञानिक नाम लोफोफेरस एमपीजेनस है|
उत्तराखंड राज्य पशु
उत्तराखंड के वनों एवं शिखरों में लगभग ३५०० -४५०० मीटर तक की ऊँचाई में पाए जाने वाले कस्तूरी मृग को राज्य पशु घोषित किया है| इसको हिमालयी भागों में हिमालयन मस्क डिअर के नाम से जाना जाता है| ये मृग साधरणतया पिथौरागढ़ , केदारनाथ एवं चमोली के ऊँचाई वाले हिस्सों में पाए जाते हैं| यह अलावा सिक्किम, हिमाचल एवं एवं कश्मीर में हैं| इसकी खास बात यह है कि यह सर्दियों में भी अपना निवास स्थान नहीं छोड़ता है| इसका वैज्ञानिक नाम मास्कस क्राइसोगौस्टर है|
उत्तराखंड राज्य वृक्ष
यह राज्य वृक्ष एक पर्वतीय वृक्ष है जिसे मैदानी भागों में नहीं उगाया जा सकता है | इसलिए सदाबहार वृक्ष बुरांश को राज्य वृक्ष घोषित किया गया है| अपने रंग-बिरंगे प्राकृतिक सौंदर्य से ये सबका मन मोह लेता है | इसके फूलों का रंग गहरा लाल होता है और ज्यादा ऊंचाई पर ये रंग सफ़ेद पाया जाता है| इसका वैज्ञानिक नाम रोडोडेंड्रन अरबोरियम है |
उत्तराखंड राज्य पुष्प
लगभग ४५०० -६००० मीटर ऊँचाई पर पाए जाने वाले ब्रह्मकमल पौधे को राज्य पुष्प घोषित किया है| केदरनाथ में इन पुष्प का प्रयोग पूजा के लिए किया जाता है तथा स्थानीय भाषा में इसे कौंल पदम् कहा जाता है| ये पुष्प केदारनाथ एवं पिंडारी ग्लेशियर वाले क्षेत्रों में अधिक मात्रा में पाया जाता है| ये पुष्प सफ़ेद व हल्के बैंगनी रंग के होते हैं| इसका वैज्ञानिक नाम सोसुरिया अबवेलेटा है|
